About the certifications
Qatar Computer Emergency Response Team (Q-CERT), today announced a new framework to enable government institutions to achieve compliance with the National Information Security Compliance Framework (NISCF). Institutions providing government e-services will now be able to appoint an accredited auditor to ensure that the security and quality of software used in their e-services can be certified as compliant with the Security and Quality Assurance Standard (SSQA), while the National Information Assurance (NIA) certification provides them with benchmarking that is acceptable to international standards.
About the certification body
The Compliance and Data Protection (CDP), a department of the MOTC and the Government of the State of Qatar, is recognized as the entity responsible for ensuring compliance with the NISCF and issuing certification in relation to the frameworks compliance schemes. CDP is also entrusted to validate the competence and integrity of Service Provider organizations providing services relating to the NISCF Service Areas and to provide recommendation in relation to an application for accreditation in relation to the NISCF Service Areas.
The mandate of MOTC, which empowers CDP, is set within Emiri Decree No. 16 of 2014 amended by Emiri Decree No. 16 of 2016. It is this mandate, and through the decision of the Supreme Council No. 25 of 2018, the empowerment provides the authority to supervise, regulate and develop the sector of Information and Communications Technology in the State of Qatar.
